New Deadline!! Need help!

I have been informed by the program that I only have until the 21st of March to decide if I want to participate! YIKES This means I need to really rev up the fundraising, and keep it steady if I am going to have to throw in some money this early!! As an added ensentive I will send EVERY DONATOR a black and white print. The hand colored prints will still be sent out for those who can send $150 or more. I can combine previous donations if you want to upgrade to the painted image. =D

At this point I am also happy to consider pledges. Send me a message if you want to pledge any amount, but are not able to donate right away. Also all purchases through my Etsy shop will go toward the travel funds!

I can't thank you all enough for all of your support!

The Firenze prints are inked, painted and ready for action!

The link below is to my fundraising travel campaign for Florence Italy. I am trying to get onboard with a study-abroad trip this summer! I will scan in a better image of the final print soon, but in the mean time here's a cell pic!

Printmaking!

Here are some images of my journey to learn the ways of intaglio so far:

I've learned that intaglio prints take a really long time, and it's best done with some background music.

I know it seems instant... but this was somewhere around 40 hours of work seen above.
 applying some grounds...
 prepping plates for more etching
Curing the rosin with heat... if you don't know what rosin is don't worry about it. It's something to help the plates etch more smoothly in the acid baths.

Same plate, 2 different inking methods.

Same plate, 2 different printing methods.
This is a cow. Just enjoy it. =D

Send Kelsey to Italy!

Hey there bloggers! I am trying to raise funds to get into a study-abroad trip this summer to Florence Italy. I opened up a FundMyTravel account. For all those who donate $40 or more I am going to send them a free hand-embellished print! I am working out the final composition for the print now, so images will be posted soon.

I have an Etsy shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/KelseyLivingstonArt

Here is the website link for the donation site:

And here is an inspirational image of the Douomo of Firenze!

My first print! (And other experiments)

Here he is! It's a cicada husk. I used a heavy blue black ink for the etched lines, and a thin transparent ink for a wash of color. Printed on white rag paper.

Some other things I have in the works:
Making a more sculptural painting. Not sure where it will go.

Still enraptured by the waterbirds. While spending time watching them I am starting to get hummed out by all the trash everywhere.

Lastly:
Egrets! I'm trying to resolve this composition. Seems a little thin right now.
